The overnight train journey from HANOI – HUE
Did you know that trains in Vietnam are known to be the slowest in the world! This is due to the narrowness of the rails which limit speed.
Indeed, for a long journey of 688 km, travelers take a little over 13 hours to arrive at Hue station. It has nothing to do with French TGVs, but it’s already a big step forward for Vietnam in recent years!
Most of the trains that serve this line have their names beginning with SE. There are many departures every day. From Hanoi there are SE 1, SE 3 – the two fastest trains, then SE 5, SE 7, SE 19.
Very recently, the SE 23 and SE 24 (SE 23 for the Hanoi-Hue route and SE 24 for the Hue-Hanoi route) classified in the 5-star category have just been put into service by the Vietnam Railways which presented them as having the best comfort according to international standards.
