Co-sponsor of solar lanterns in Ban Cam village

Last February 12, the HORIZON VIETNAM team experienced an unforgettable weekend with humanitarian associations such as Tu Tam (from the heart), Hoa Sen (Lotus), the Phuc Hoang An company, and the Minh Tri startup fund in Hanoi. On a mission to bring light to inhabitants in isolated mountainous regions, we visited to offer gifts to children and to sponsor 50 solar lanterns for the entire Ban Cam village, Co Linh commune, Pac Nam district, Bac Kan province.

Being a small village of only 116 family units, located in the northeast about 250 km from Hanoi, the village inhabitants still face difficulties. Indeed, the main source of income for the population comes from agricultural production, especially rice cultivation and small-scale livestock farming. Village infrastructure is still lacking, particularly street lighting. The lack of electricity makes it difficult for residents to move around in the evening as the terrain of Ban Cam village is rather dangerous.

After the investigation process, HORIZON VIETNAM and other businesses and humanitarian associations decided to offer 50 sets of solar lanterns worth a total of nearly 100 million dong (equivalent to 4,000 euros) to Ban Cam village, Co Linh commune, Pac Nam district, Bac Kan province. Each lantern set has 1 lamp and a solar energy collection and reception system. We also offer candy and small sums of money to the elderly and children. In short, the solar lantern sponsorship program contributes to helping the poor in isolated mountainous regions. This has great humanitarian impact, bringing light to the inhabitants.

With 50 sponsored solar lanterns, we have illuminated more than 3 km of the village’s main streets. We hope that our action brings not only light to the streets of Ban Cam village but also to the hearts of the poor living there.
