Emergency Relief After Typhoon Yagi in Northern Vietnam Provinces

Typhoon Yagi, one of the strongest in recent years, severely hit several northern Vietnamese provinces, causing major floods and affecting thousands of people. The damage was enormous, with destroyed homes, lost livelihoods, and severely weakened communities. Faced with this difficult situation, Horizon Vietnam Travel responded immediately. In collaboration with the Next-G charitable foundation and other organizations, our agency launched an emergency relief campaign to help the affected populations. This rapid intervention aimed to provide immediate assistance to disaster victims and support them in rebuilding their lives after the catastrophe.

Damage Caused by Typhoon Yagi

The passage of Typhoon Yagi left a mark of desolation in several northern provinces such as Son La, Lang Son, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, and Bac Giang. Hundreds of dwellings were destroyed, crops devastated, and roads rendered impassable, leaving inhabitants in great difficulty. Local communities, often already vulnerable, saw their livelihoods and infrastructure reduced to nothing in just a few hours, leaving families homeless, without food, and without resources.

Faced with this emergency, Horizon Vietnam Travel, in collaboration with various partners, launched a large-scale relief operation aimed at providing essential goods to the hardest-hit families. This rapid response helped mitigate the immediate effects of the catastrophe and bring a ray of hope to those who had lost everything.

Large-Scale Emergency Relief

As part of this relief campaign, a significant volume of essential goods was distributed to the hardest-hit families:

• 3,000 boxes of instant noodles
• 2,000 boxes of bottled water
• 300 boxes of soft drinks
• 4 tons of rice
• 250 boxes of dry meal rations
• 300 boxes of fresh milk
• 300 life jackets
• 500 bottles of disinfectant solution
• 6 rescue boats

In Lang Son, for example, humanitarian aid reached a value of 80 million VND in essential goods. Other provinces such as Phu Tho, Lao Cai, and Thai Nguyen also benefited from significant support. In Phu Tho, 200 boxes of instant noodles, 40 boxes of water, and various other products were distributed to families. In the districts of Dong Hy and Phu Binh in Thai Nguyen, particularly devastated areas, more than 1,500 boxes of instant noodles were delivered, accompanied by other vital supplies.

Many families lost everything after Typhoon Yagi passed through

Beyond food items, relief efforts also included the distribution of equipment such as flashlights, sweets, and medicines, all essential for helping families overcome this difficult trial. In Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, and Bac Giang, hundreds of boxes of noodles and drinking water were delivered to populations at their greatest time of need, allowing them to cope with precarious living conditions.

In Son La, in the village of Ban Lam, a sudden flood caused by the typhoon resulted in the deaths of 3 people, serious injuries to 5 others, and the destruction of 13 homes. Horizon Vietnam Travel responded without delay, distributing 210 relief kits containing essential products such as cooking oil, salt, and noodles, along with 59 million VND in financial support for the most affected families.

The testimonies gathered during this relief campaign demonstrate the crucial importance of the assistance provided. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a resident of Na Hang in Tuyen Quang province, recounted with emotion: “The storm severely damaged our house, sweeping away everything in its path. The help from rescue teams, with instant noodles and drinking water, was a true lifeline for us during these difficult times.”
