Humanitarian Trip December 2020, Santa Claus’s Visit to Lao Village

Table of contents

Despite the fact that travel is halted due to the Covid pandemic, we continue to remain mobilized for our humanitarian trips. Helping others also means helping ourselves, these exchanges of smiles and joy are always special moments that bring us enormous value.

For this trip, three organizations are at the origin of the resources that allowed us to buy gifts and supplies.

  • The French association “The Rice Field School”
  • The Buddhism Association of Vietnam
  • And Horizon Vietnam Travel

This time our expedition is intended to go and help members of a very remote village in Yen Bai province, the village of Lao.

We will bring them supplies such as clothes, jackets, hats, food items, toys, seasonings… but also much of our smiles and our human warmth. I believe that is just as important!

We therefore left about twenty strong, members of Horizon and the Buddhist association. Young university students from Hanoi studying French and destined for a career in tourism also accompanied us.

The departure from Hanoi was scheduled for 6 a.m. and it took no less than 5 hours to reach our destination. The village is about 150 kilometers from Hanoi but you know well that distance is not very representative. Indeed traffic moves much more slowly in Vietnam, particularly on mountain roads at the end of the journey.

By the word of an experienced Vietnamese driver, the route we had to take to get there was particularly difficult!

Fortunately, we managed to be patient, we stopped regularly to refresh ourselves and eat. We arrived safely at the village where the residents and especially their children were waiting for us!

It took time to enjoy the landscapes a bit and greet before we were already busy unloading to proceed with the joyful and ceremonial distribution of gifts!

We shared great moments of emotion, the children were very excited and the parents had eyes shining with happiness!

But rather than long speeches, we leave you to enjoy beautiful photos, because in reality there is not much to say!

Here, we thank you very much for helping us continue these beautiful projects. We also warmly thank The Rice Field School as well as the Buddhism Association which is working with us to create these humanitarian trips.
