Table of contents
In response to the “Light for Maritime Region” program, from May 27 to June 1, 2024, Horizon Vietnam Travel collaborated with the Từ Tâm volunteer group, Next G Foundation, Ngân Hà fashion company, the Red Cross, and others to organize a series of charitable activities in Đồng Tiến, the island district of Cô Tô, Quảng Ninh province.
Located in the northeast of Quảng Ninh province, the island district of Cô Tô covers a natural area of over 47 km² and is home to approximately 6,700 inhabitants, distributed across over 30 large and small islands. Among these, the three largest islands are Cô Tô, Thanh Lân, and Trân (also called Chăn or Chàng Tây). Cô Tô is one of the important outposts, with a strategic position in terms of politics, economy, defense, security, and foreign relations in the northeastern region of the Homeland’s sea.

Horizon Vietnam Travel and other co-sponsors donated 100 solar lampposts to Đồng Tiến, Cô Tô
As part of this event, Horizon Vietnam Travel and the Từ Tâm volunteer group installed 100 solar lampposts, worth over 300 million VND, along the Hải Tiến – Nam Hà road axis and on several other streets in Đồng Tiến commune.
Furthermore, as part of the “Light for Maritime Region” program, kindergarten children also participated in artistic performances. Their singing, dancing, and theater shows not only enlivened the event but also brought a warm and touching dimension, making the program more vibrant and meaningful.

The island of Cô Tô is famous for its wild natural beauty and pristine white sand beaches. The use of solar energy on the island helps not only preserve the natural landscape but also reduce negative impacts from using non-renewable energy sources. Furthermore, it is an effective solution to reduce financial costs related to supplying electricity for the island’s domestic and industrial needs.

We donated solar lampposts to the Cô Tô border post
The Cô Tô border post is tasked with managing and protecting the northeastern maritime region, encompassing the border area of Cô Tô city and Đồng Tiến commune. To fulfill this mission, the post has intensified efforts to mobilize and enhance the role of citizens in protecting sovereignty and security of maritime zones. The cooperation of border officers and soldiers allowed residents to feel safe in continuing their maritime activities, thus contributing to economic development, strengthening unity between the military and citizens, and building a solid border defense.

We distributed gifts to high-achieving students in difficult circumstances at Đồng Tiến
On the occasion of International Children’s Day on June 1, Horizon Vietnam Travel and the Từ Tâm volunteer group also distributed 45 gifts to high-achieving students in difficult circumstances in Đồng Tiến. These meaningful gifts encourage children to continue studying and progress in life. Furthermore, Horizon Vietnam Travel and the Từ Tâm volunteer group organized the launch of the month of action for children, implementing numerous charitable activities and offering gifts to children.

A 3D mural conveying a message of love for nature to students
Another significant activity of the program was the creation of 100 m² of 3D murals for two kindergartens in Đồng Tiến. Under the scorching sun of the island, the team of volunteers specialized in 3D painting transformed old walls into vibrant murals, depicting animals, natural landscapes, and familiar fairy tales. These murals not only beautify the educational space but also bring joy and enthusiasm to students, helping them appreciate their school environment more.

This painting activity received enthusiastic support from school leaders, parents, and students. The 3D murals serve not only to decorate but also show the attention and love of Horizon Vietnam Travel, the Từ Tâm volunteer group, teachers, and the school toward the students. The kindergartens of Đồng Tiến and Cô Tô city now wear vibrant new colors, creating a joyful, familiar, and warm learning environment for the small students of the distant island.
Horizon Vietnam Travel and the Từ Tâm volunteer group hope not only to bring light and joy to the inhabitants and children of Cô Tô, but also to show their social responsibility and love for the community. These activities contribute to building a beautiful and sustainable Cô Tô, and we hope that similar initiatives will continue to multiply in the future.
