On the morning of July 10, 2020, a meeting between the department committee, the specialist lecturers and two representatives of two travel agencies was held in the meeting room of the Department of French Language and Culture of Hanoi National University:
– Mr. Vu Van Tuyen – General Manager of Travelogy, Vice President of Vietnam Tourism Association
– Mr. Ta Duy Bau – Director and founder of Horizon Travel and former student of the Department of French Language and Culture
At the meeting, Ta Duy Bau reiterated that the tourism sector has very great development potential. As director of a travel agency, he has noticed that the number of French tourists traveling to Vietnam is increasing. However, there is a shortage of highly qualified specialists who can meet the demands of the market.
As a jury member of the “Love to Lead” competition organized by the Tourism Club, Vu Van Tuyen praised the language level of the French-speaking students. At the same time, he emphasized the important role of know-how and social skills, which are weak among many students today.
The two representatives of the travel agencies also agreed to define concrete goals, plans and training roadmaps for the Tourism subject of the Department of French.
The meeting took place in a lively and open atmosphere
Responding to the concerns and concerns of the two representatives, Mr. Dinh Hong Van – Dean of the Department of French – stated that the department will continue to promote its strengths in the French language education of students. This allows students to use the language as a tool to study, work and meet the needs of companies. In order to awaken the passion for tourism and train the students’ skills necessary for work, the Department of French also wants the travel agencies to provide recommendations on the training programs, provide learning materials and participate in teaching some tourism courses. At the welcome ceremony for new students at the start of their studies, the French Department would like to invite companies to exchange ideas with students so that they can better identify employment opportunities and determine their careers.
At the end of the meeting, the two representatives and the lecturers discussed the basic principles and the way in which the modules will be taught: Introduction to Tourism, Tour Guidance and Tourism Management, and Hotel Operations Management.
Dinh Hong Van shared the wishes of the French Department
Hoping that the Department of French, with the support of travel agencies such as HORIZON VIETNAM TRAVEL, will train students who will meet the needs of the labor market and become highly qualified professionals in the tourism industry in Vietnam.
