Visit the Royal Palace featuring the combination of the French beaux-arts styles and traditional Laos architecture. The palace is now turned to a National Museum (close every Tuesday) boating the precious collections of the Royal artifacts. Drive or enjoy a leisurely walk on through the peaceful tree-lined streets to admire some of Luang Prabang’s famous temples including Wat Xieng Thong, a great masterpiece of mosaics and carved wood featuring traditional Lao style; Wat Vitsoun, the most ancient temple of Luang Prabang, was built with simple architecture and housed the Prabang Buddhas ancient statues and steeles.

In the afternoon, visit Wat Mai, one of the town's most sumptuous monasteries, famed for its classic Laos architectural style.

Climb up to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred, gilded stupa and admire the panoramic sunset view of the Mekong and Khan rivers as well as the mountain range. At the end of the day, opt to stroll around the Street Night Bazaar where you can find the various handicraft collections.

Day 03: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Cave - Kuangsi Waterfall (B)

This morning, get onboard a traditional long-tail boat to discover the famous Pak Ou Caves. Sitting at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers, these twin caves are carved into the surrounding limestone cliffs, filled with hundreds of ancient Buddha images and statues.

Upon arrival, start exploring the magical cave systemsthe lower cave houses a photogenic group of Buddha statues, silhouetted against the stunning riverine backdrop, the upper cave is a 7-minute climb up steps surrounded by lush trees. You will notice Buddhas in every position, every era of life, and every size line the cave walls and understand a sacred religious practice that depicts the devotion and commitment of Laotians to Buddhism.

This afternoon, enjoy a scenic 1-hour drive south of Luang Prabang, to visit the Kuang Si waterfall, one of Luang Prabang’s most picturesque sights with a multi-tiered cascade of pale turquoise blue water flowing from the thick jungle above into perfectly sculpted limestone pools below.  Follow the unpaved trail as it gradually climbs through the forest to reach different levels of natural blue pools, some are shallow and one central pool has a rope swing.

Take a leisurely hike through the natural park past the Asian Bear Rescue Center, housing 23 Asiatic Bears that were rescued from poachers.

Day 04: Luang Prabang – Fly to Pakse – Bolaven Plateau (B)

Have breakfast at your hotel. Free time until driver picks up you at the hotel then takes you to the airport to take the short flight to Pakse, which is the biggest city of Southern Laos.

Upon arrival, we depart for the Bolaven plateau, a mountainous region home to dozens of hill tribes, waterfalls and coffee and tea plantations. The first stop is the visit of Tad Lo waterfalls, a beautiful formation of three separate falls. From the bridge, you will first see Tad Hang and then Tad Lo in the distance. The most impressive of the three, Tad Suong, is located a further 10km upriver. From there, we will drive to the small village of Ban Houay Houn, famous for its Katu textiles. You will have the chance to observe the women weaving without a traditional loom but using their legs to stretch the fabric.

We continue our journey through the Paksong and Bolaven plateau. The Bolaven Plateau is known for its cooler temperature being located high above the Mekong Valley. Rivers run off this high plateau in all directions and then plunge out to lush forests along in a series of spectacular surging waterfalls.

After tour, we come back to the hotel to relax.

Day 05: Bolaven Plateau – Wat Phou – Done Khong (B)

After breakfast at hotel, tour guide picks up you at lobby at 8:30 am then we drive to Champasak. Along the way, we will have a chance to enjoy the scenery around Tad Fan waterfall, which is spectacular with twin waterfalls plummeting into a deep gorge surrounded by flourishing vegetation. We will also see the cultivation of rich coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas, and other crops that are grown in the area.

Upon arrival, we visit Wat Phou, an ancient Khmer religious complex dating back to the 5th Century. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Wat Phou is a spectacular pre-Angkorian temple that sits amidst the rice fields and waterways of southern Laos.  The temple was constructed in three levels: the bottom level is focused on the baray (water reservoir) and promenade, the second level features quadrangular pavilions and galleries of carvings, and the top level is the sanctuary itself.  The temple was built during the rule of the Khmer empire before the construction of Angkor Wat. The temple served as the most important economic and political centre of the region and still is one of the Lao people’s most revered temples. After your visit, we continue to Champasak to see samples of French colonial architecture before driving to Done Khong where you have the rest of the day to relax or to explore the island.

Day 06: Done Khong Island – 4000 Islands – Done Daeng (B)

After breakfast, we will head further south from Ban Nakasang, and take the boat to Khone Island. Upon arrival, we will explore the peaceful local villages of Ban Khone where you can see a picture of the relics of the French colonial era and trace the old colonial past, including the old French colonial buildings and the remains of the first railroad line of Laos with its locomotive. We will continue to discover the 4000 islands area by tuk tuk and visit the wonderful Liphi waterfall, also called the "devil's lane", one of the most beautiful waterfalls marking the border between Laos and Cambodia. If we are lucky, we may see the rare Irrawaddy dolphins at Ban Hang Khone. Then we will take a long-tail boat to Ban Nakasang. From there, we will drive south to visit Khone Phapheng which is considered the largest waterfall in volume in Southeast Asia. It is a most impressive sight near the Lao-Cambodian border, located in the middle of lush vegetation, this area is one of the most popular destinations in Laos. From there, we will head to Champasak before taking the boat to the beautiful island of Daeng, where we will spend the night at La Folie Lodge.
