By engaging in solidarity tourism, HORIZON VIETNAM TRAVEL carries out humanitarian projects every year to help disadvantaged children and families in the country.
This weekend of September 17 and 18, 2016, we organized a humanitarian project “Ao am vung cao” “Coats for winter in the mountains” to help the two poorest villages of Khau Qua and Nam Dai of Nam Mau commune of Ba Be district; a mountainous region, located in the northeast of Vietnam.
During a trip to Ba Be a few months before, the HORIZON VIETNAM TRAVEL team had the opportunity to talk with the teacher of the kindergarten of this region, we noticed the urgent needs of the local people living in these villages. For this reason, our agency considered it the destination to choose for this year 2016.
After 5 hours of driving, we were present in Ba Be and to spend a first night, very early in the morning the next day, the team of HORIZON VIETNAM TRAVEL and the volunteers (in total 12 people) started the road towards Khau Qua and Nam Dai, as the road condition is very difficult, we mobilized the 11 motorbikes and a small special van to carry the gifts for the inhabitants. After 35 km on motorbikes following the mountain trails, we were present at the school of the commune.
Here we found that the conditions of the inhabitants are very difficult, they lack water, electricity, internet and telephones. The local people live mainly from corn farming and a little from livestock. This school has 40 primary students and 31 kindergarten students who are members of 52 poor families.
Our group gave the 52 families 52 blankets for this winter.
Other gifts were distributed to the 71 children of the school, including 71 winter coats, 71 woollen hats, 71 sandals, 200 notebooks and pencils.
The men of the village were also delighted with other gifts, namely 40 quality jerseys from the donor “Mr Dung Shop” in Hanoi. We also offered small meaningful gifts for the teachers like wall watches, winter blankets and clothes…
We finished this humanitarian project successfully, filled with emotions, tears of joy and happiness. The smiles of the children warm our hearts and give us courage to continue our next activities.
Once again, we would like to thank all the volunteers and donors, and especially our dear travellers, for having helped us to carry out this beautiful activity.
See you soon!
