Sorry for the delay in answering you but many things to deal with on return after a month of absence…
We were delighted with our stay in Vietnam. The guide we had for the North was very very good, speaking impeccable French, knowing his country very well and therefore taught us a lot of things throughout the visits, whether in Hanoi with visits to temples, pagodas, mausoleum etc… as well as in the North with visits from minorities, markets and others… On the other hand very friendly and attentive to our wishes.
The driver was excellent, a good driver, very attentive and punctual, and also caring for us. Very clean and comfortable car.
The 2nd guide was nice but her French is not to the point, difficult to understand his explanations. …
Some criticisms about the course of the trip:
– We would have preferred to spend one less night in the mountains and one more night in Along Bay on land so 2 nights
– Would have liked to see the famous market of Bac Ha on Sunday
Hotels:
Property overall except
Tam Coc hotel = too far from the village. Would have preferred “chez Sloane” closer to the pier and the village…
The rented bikes were in very poor condition. The hotel should renew its bike park!!
The tour in Sampan was disappointing, there was nothing to see! It would have been better to take a sampan ride through the Thung Nang pier with a visit to a cave and temple!
On the night of Sunday, April 2 in Hanoi, we had a room without a window. … not too bad since it was only one night but good!
– Hostel in Mu Can Chai ok- but tiny room… We would have preferred to stay with the locals like the guide and driver.
We really enjoyed the “Dragon Legend” junk.
On the other hand, it is not necessary to have a guide from the agency on the boat since there is one attached to the boat by default.
Our homestay nights were very much appreciated as well as the sharing of meals.
Overall, we are very satisfied with the trip and your organization apart from the few points we raised.
I have not yet sorted my photos but the 2nd guide made some of us that she could send you and send us at the same time!
