Van Phuc Village
Located only 10 km from Hanoi. The silk village of Van Phuc specializes in the production 
of extremely fine natural silk also called Ha Dong silk. The story goes that in 874, under Chinese rule, the wife of a Tang dynasty mandarin, who was stationed in Vietnam, taught the people of Van Phuc sericulture and silk weaving. As time went by, this trade kept on developing, becoming the main livelihood of the villagers. During the Nguyen dynasty, Van Phuc silk was considered a luxury product. In this village, the craftsmen produce from natural silk high quality fabrics such as taffeta, brocade, linen. The ao dai (traditional split tunic of Vietnamese women), pyjamas, shirts, dresses, skirts, scarves, towels, sleeping bags… embroidered and colorful will satisfy the most demanding customers. The fame of Van Phuc silk has spread beyond the borders of Vietnam and is now found all over the world. It is undoubtedly the most famous destination for the production of natural silk in Vietnam.
